About the Owl

Hi, I’m Gabi.

I’m 21 years old, I’m a journalism student at Temple University in Philadelphia, and in the fall of 2015, I spent a semester abroad in London.

This was my about page while I was there:

After much consideration, I have decided to completely put myself on blast and dedicate this blog to writing about traveling with anxiety. Traveling is fun, beautiful, and life-changing. It can also be stressful, scary, and make you want to scream and cry. I am here to focus on the latter. I plan to keep this blog as honest as possible so my readers can not only relate, but also learn from my experiences. Most travel blogs only focus on the glamorous parts, but it is important to show the behind-the-scenes too so future travelers know what to expect. I swear to tell the truth, most of the truth, and almost nothing but the truth, so help me, whichever omniscient being you want to pretend I wrote here.

If you took Eat Pray Love and sprinkled it with An Idiot Abroad and stuffed it with a small child screaming, you’d get me: the owl in London. I’m loud, I’m nocturnal, and I always seem decently freaked out about everything, so “owl” definitely doesn’t stem solely from my bursting Temple pride. (Go Owls!)

Brew yourself a cuppa and stick around. Expect posts about once a week. Well, maybe don’t expect it, but hope for it.

This is my about page now:

Hi. I’m not in London, and I’m very sad about it. Now that I’m home, this blog can’t really be categorized as travel anymore, so it’s just going to be a big ol’ mess of different things I care about. No real rhyme or reason, but I can promise you that I will always do my best to provide you with entertaining and mostly-intelligent content, regardless of the subject. Enjoy!

For some of my old-old posts, check out my old blog.

If you’re interested in films, check out my boyfriend Simon’s blog.

xx Gabi

      1. Hardly, but my new luggage set should be arriving any day and I’m going to start organizing some of the stuff I can pack ahead of time (winter clothes, namely). I do already have quite the detailed packing list though!
